Ordos city dresses up in style to celebrate National Day

In the run-up to National Day on Oct 1, the city of Ordos in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region has festooned itself with red flags, brightly colored flowers and it has decorated various key spots with special green landscapes to create a buoyant and festive atmosphere.

The Ordos News Network reports that the city's Ejin Horoo Banner has hung more than 1,900 national five-star red flags in its main streets, at the airport and railway station, as well as in scenic spots, hotels and shopping malls.

A total of 11 grass sculptures and around 6,000 chrysanthemums have also been used to jazz up the streets.

In the city's Kangbashi district, around 2,900 five-star red flags now adorn the streetlights.

In particular, more than 110 kinds of chrysanthemums are currently on display in Kangbashi. The chrysanthemum exhibition area alone covers 8,000 square meters.

At present, these chrysanthemums are in the early flowering stage and are expected to reach full bloom during National Day holiday and the exhibition will run to Oct 15.
