Ordos Hi-tech Industrial Zone achieves strong development

This year marks the fifth anniversary of the establishment of the Ordos Hi-tech Industrial Zone in the city of Ordos in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region.

Over a five-year period, the zone has delivered remarkable development achievements due to technology innovation.

Since its establishment, the zone has continued to improve its business environment by simplifying administrative approval procedures and offering easier market access.

As of August 2022, the zone had 81 enterprises included in the China Torch Program, 3.5 times the number of such enterprises in 2017.

During the same period, these enterprises achieved a total industrial output of 10.40 billion yuan ($1.56 billion), accounting for 80.6 percent of the zone's total industrial output.

The output value of such enterprises above designated size was 9.83 billion yuan, accounting for 94.5 percent of the industrial output of enterprises participating in the China Torch Program.

From January to August this year, 94 new technology-based small and medium-sized enterprises opened in the zone, a year-on-year increase of 32.4 percent.

The total number of high-tech enterprises in the zone reached 49, a year-on-year increase of 204.2 percent.

By the end of August, the high-tech enterprises in the zone's jurisdiction had achieved an industrial output of 6.41 billion yuan and an operating income of 7.01 billion yuan.

Additionally, the zone has made strong achievements in technological research and development.

The zone is currently home to 32 R&D research platforms above the autonomous region level, 1.9 times the number in 2017.

As of the end of 2021, the zone had 1,161 valid patents in total, 3.2 times the number in 2017.

Among them, 210 were invention patents, 1.7 times the number in 2017.

In the same period, the zone also had 956 registered trademarks and 285 software copyrights.
