Ordos foreign trade surges in first nine months

From January to September this year, the foreign trade value of the city of Ordos in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region reached 10.77 billion yuan ($1.54 billion), a record high.
It represented a year-on-year increase of 122.98 percent and 102 percentage points higher than the average growth rate of Inner Mongolia's foreign trade.
The total export value of Ordos was 7.68 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 133.4 percent; while the import value came in at 3.09 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 101.9 percent.
Despite the downward pressure on the global economy, the foreign trade of Ordos has reached a historic high, and the growth rate has remained the highest in Inner Mongolia for nine consecutive months.
In the first nine months of this year, Ordos' imports and exports showed the following characteristics.
General trade and processing trade both grew.
From January to September, the total import and export value of Ordos' general trade was 5.35 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 53.83 percent, and the city's total value of processing trade import and export reached 5.10 billion yuan, surging 293.03 percent compared with the same period of last year.
From January to September, 63 new foreign trade operators were registered in Ordos, bringing the total number of such operators to 564.
During the same period, the total import and export value of private enterprises was 5.03 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 116.48 percent and accounting for 46.7 percent of the city's total foreign trade value.
The foreign trade value of State-owned enterprises was 3.70 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 65.66 percent and accounting for 34.37 percent of the city's total.
In addition, exports of chemical enterprises in the city increased significantly, with their import and export volume from January to September growing by more than 400 percent.
What's more, the import and export value of the city's electronic products continued to grow. From January to September, the city's electronic product import and export value reached 5.95 billion yuan, an increase of 108.9 percent.
