Ordos achieves simultaneous growth in coal production and sales

The city of Ordos in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region recently held a signing ceremony to commemorate a deal to supply coal nationwide.

A total of 14 coal companies in the jurisdiction of Ordos city signed medium and long-term coal supply contracts with 10 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities across the country.

It has been reported that an agreement for a total of 180 million metric tons of coal was signed to satisfy the country's energy demands.

Ordos signed four new contracts in addition to their previous contracts. A total of 45.4 million tons of coal will be supplied to supplement imported coal. 29.5 million tons of coal will be supplied to guarantee the power generation of coastal provinces.  Another 6 million tons of coal will be supplied for central heating in Northeast China's Liaoning, Jilin and Heilongjiang provinces. A further 8.41 million tons of coal will be supplied to Inner Mongolia for central heating purposes.

To date, Ordos has signed contracts to deliver a total of 89 million tons of coal in total.

At the beginning of this year, Ordos issued an implementation plan for increasing coal production, ensuring supply and stabilizing prices.

A total of 46 coal mines have resumed production, adding to the production capacity by 95.7 million tons per year.

Of all Ordos' new coal mines, five have obtained mining licenses, five have obtained start-up records, four have completed completion inspections, and three have obtained national approval.

At present, Ordos has 243 coal mines in normal operation. Its total production capacity is 866 million tons per year, and it has an average daily coal sales volume of more than 2.35 million tons.

Ordos has produced a total of 722 million tons of coal so far this year, which is an increase of 113 million tons or 18.6 percent compared to the same period last year. It has also sold 692 million tons of coal so far, which is a 21.35 percent increase in sales from the previous year.
