With the Spring Festival almost upon us, a cultural event targeting foreigners working, studying and living in the city of Ordos, North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region, was successfully held both online and offline on Jan 12.

The event aimed to boost cultural exchanges and showcase the charm of traditional Chinese culture to foreign friends through activities such as cultural exhibitions, folklore experiences, and food tastings.

Exciting traditional activities, including writing couplets, pasting blessing characters, cutting window grilles, hanging lanterns, making New Year's Eve dinner, and making traditional Chinese delicacies like dumplings, fried cakes and milk tea, were held.

The China Cultural Center in Ulaanbaatar held an online activity for Chinese and foreign friends to celebrate the Spring Festival together.

Chen Shuang, Cultural Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Mongolia, sent New Year blessings to everyone online.

This year's Spring Festival event attracted seven expats from six countries, as well as the extended family members of Sam, an expat who is married to a woman from the Juungar Banner of Ordos city.

Foreign friends in Sweden, the Philippines, Canada, and Indonesia also participated in the event online.

Ordos has been running culture and exchange activities for local foreigners since 2017. Every year, foreigners studying and working in the city will be given the chance to participate in China's traditional festivals and important days.

These events play an essential role in boosting cultural exchanges between Ordos and the world.
