Ordos' foreign trade exceeds 16b yuan in 2022

The city of Ordos in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region reached a total of 16.29 billion yuan ($2.43 billion) in foreign trade in 2022, an increase of 82.6 percent from the previous year.

This was the first year that Ordos has recorded a foreign trade volume of more than 10 billion yuan, bringing Ordos' foreign trade ranking from seventh place to fourth among all leagues and cities within Inner Mongolia.

In 2022, the demand for international chemical products and LCD panels rose sharply, driving Ordos's export sector to spike in numbers significantly.

In 2022, the Ordos Comprehensive Bonded Zone achieved rapid growth and realized an import and export volume of 6.5 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 156.9 percent and accounting for 39.9 percent of the city's total import and export volume.

Since the Ordos cross-border e-commerce comprehensive pilot area was approved, 23 new cross-border e-commerce companies were added throughout 2022.

According to preliminary statistics, cross-border e-commerce imports and exports in the city exceeded 1.2 billion yuan in 2022, ranking first among the region's top five cross-border e-commerce comprehensive zones.
