The city of Ordos in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region added two key laboratories at the autonomous region level, bringing the number of such laboratories in the city to five.

The newly-recognized laboratories are the Inner Mongolia laboratory for cashmere materials and engineering technology, and the Inner Mongolia laboratory for low-carbon energy transformation in the circular economy, respectively.

The former has established a multidisciplinary research system integrating cell biology, molecular biology, proteomics, structural biology, and textile science; and the latter aims to solve key technical problems in the field of low-carbon energy conversion in the circular economy.

This recognition marks that Ordos has reached a new level in its technical research and development capabilities in the field of cashmere and low-carbon energy. These laboratories will also provide strong scientific and technological support to improve Ordos' innovation capabilities.

Ordos will give awards of no less than 2 million yuan per year for five years to each autonomous region-level key laboratory in its jurisdiction.
