As autumn deepens, tens of thousands of migratory birds have arrived on schedule at the Ordos Relict Gull National Nature Reserve, making this vibrant wetland their temporary dwelling.
These feathered globetrotters rely heavily on wetlands and lakes to rest, perch and hunt, storing energy for their further southward journey.
The Ordos nature reserve covers 14.47 hectares, with a water area of 8.4 square kilometers. The reserve is home to 88 species of birds and is an important pit stop on their migratory route.

With the arrival of the migratory season, the presence of great bustards and black storks, both listed as Class I nationally protected birds, along with grey cranes, swans, and white spoonbills, which are Class II nationally protected species, have been detected.
The number of migratory birds visiting this fall has jumped considerably from last year, with a current population of 47,000.
