Ordos Dairy Cow Science and Technology Backyard, a joint initiative by China Agricultural University, the Ordos agriculture and animal husbandry bureau, and the government of Dalad Banner, was recently established in the city of Ordos in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region.

It is the first such venue of its kind in Inner Mongolia.

It serves as a de facto technology service platform that was created by China Agricultural University to achieve the transformation or commercialization of scientific and technological innovations via regional cooperation.

The "backyard" will rely on the production resources of Inner Mongolia Purui Agricultural and Animal Husbandry Co, focusing on dairy cow breeding, nutrition regulation, and other research.

In recent years, with the support of national and regional industrial policies, Ordos has been promoting the construction of high-end organic milk source bases.

By 2023, nine new and expanded large-scale pastures are planned to be completed, increasing the number of dairy cows in the city to 126,000, marking year-on-year growth of 14 percent, and with an expected milk production of 550,000 metric tons.
