The city of Ordos in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region was recently included in the 2023 list of "China's Top 100 Cultural Cities".
That's according to an announcement made at the Second China Cultural Top 100 Cities Conference and Awards Ceremony, which was held at Peking University on Jan 15-16.
It is understood that the selection process for this list lasted nearly a year, covering most of China.
The evaluation criteria included five aspects: historical and cultural heritage, natural landscapes, humanistic landscapes, folk customs, and innovative development.
The focus was on the quantity of "national key cultural relics", "intangible cultural heritage," and "4A and 5A-rated tourist attractions" within the selected cities.
The list was determined and released through the establishment of communication platforms, confirmation of research subjects, public data, third-party data investigations, expert opinions, and media evaluations.
