At the site of the Ordos new energy 1.1 million kilowatt photovoltaic power generation project in Juungar Banner of Ordos city, hundreds of workers are toiling day and night to meet the project deadline.
The project was approved in March 2022 and officially began construction in September of the same year, with all preliminary procedures completed in just five short months.
This is the first large-scale photovoltaic power generation project in Juungar Banner.
Located at the eastern end of the Kubuqi Desert, the project is establishing a photovoltaic array that stretches 14 kilometers from east to west and 2 km from north to south.

Once completed, the project will continuously supply green electricity to the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, meeting the power needs of 1.1 million households.
Simultaneously, upon completion, the project will reduce the consumption of raw coal by over 840,000 metric tons annually, while also cutting carbon dioxide emissions by over 4.1 million tons. It will also alleviate the pressure on thermal power, and actively contribute to the control of atmospheric pollution and environmental improvement.
By planting greenery between and under the project's solar panels, 30,000 mu (200 hectares) of deserts will be transformed.
Additionally, approximately 20,000 mu of the surrounding area will be covered with grass grids to stabilize the sand, creating conditions for vegetation growth. At the same time, the photovoltaic panels will block wind and sand, effectively protecting 30,000 mu of downstream farmland.
