On April 20, two thrilling off-road races took place in China's seventh largest desert, the Kubuqi desert.
These two events also included the third annual gathering of 100 utility vehicles (UTAs) and the inauguration of the 2024 Kubuqi Desert Off-road Motorcycle Open.
The opening ceremony, featuring performances by the Ulan Muqir Art Troupe of Hanggin Banner in Ordos city, kicked off the events and drew applause from the audience.

The UTV race, spanning a challenging 240-kilometer course, attracted over 100 drivers from more than 30 clubs nationwide. Meanwhile, the inaugural off-road motorcycle race, divided into the imported, domestic, and all-terrain vehicle (ATV) categories, saw over 60 participants riding across a 25-km stretch of desert.
These desert off-road races not only serve as competitions, but also showcase Hanggin Banner's natural landscapes, cultural heritage, and comprehensive tourism potential.
The local government of Hanggin Banner expressed its commitment to further exploring the combination of desert sports, culture, and tourism. It will also continue to promote the in-depth development of its desert tourism industry by tapping into and unleashing consumer potential, while also nurturing new economic growth points.
