As temperatures gradually rise, relict gulls have returned to the Dongsheng management station of the Relict Gull National Nature Reserve in Ordos city.
Relict gulls are the nationally protected wild birds in China as they are rare and endangered bird species. Every year, the Ordos nature reserve attracts a large number of relict gulls for the breeding season.
Additionally, other bird species, such as ruddy shelducks, grey geese and swans, have also made this area their nesting, stopover, and breeding ground.

Currently, the reserve is home to over 30 wild bird species, totaling more than 10,000 birds. This includes approximately 800 relict gulls."
The Relict Gull National Nature Reserve in Ordos is the world's first wetland reserve dedicated to the protection of relict gulls and their ecological environment.
Currently, the water area of the reserve covers 8.6 square kilometers.
