CCID Consulting Co on May 28 unveiled a report revealing the 2023 national ranking of counties with GDP exceeding 100 billion yuan ($13.70 billion).
A total of two banners in the city of Ordos in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region made the list.
Juungar Banner achieved a GDP of 140.03 billion yuan, securing the 28th spot on the list, three places higher than in 2022, while Ejin Horoo Banner held the 41st position with a GDP of 122.09 billion yuan.
In recent years, Juungar Banner, known as a national large-scale coal base, a large coal-fired power base, and a modern coal chemical industry demonstration zone, has been strategically developing the new energy industry.
By establishing itself as a significant application base for wind power, hydrogen power, hydrogen storage and vehicles in northern China, Juungar Banner has propelled sustained high-quality growth in its industrial economy, increasing both its economic output and growth rate.
It is projected that by 2026, the modern coal chemical industry output value in the development zone of Juungar Banner will surpass 100 billion yuan, thus pioneering the establishment of a 100-billion-yuan modern coal chemical industry demonstration base in Inner Mongolia.
Additionally, Ejin Horoo Banner has persistently upheld innovation as its driving force, using energy transformation to steer industrial upgrades.
China's first zero-carbon industrial park, built to high standards, has been completed in Ejin Horoo Banner, following the release of the country's first set of local zero-carbon standards. The new energy-based power system and energy supply system are gradually taking shape in the area.
Calculations indicate that by 2025, the new energy output value in Ejin Horoo Banner will exceed 300 billion yuan, showcasing the region's commitment to sustainable development and technological advancement.
