A total of 80 standards on Albas cashmere goats were recently released in Ordos, North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region. They involve goat breeding, processing, storage, transportation, and sales.

The standards were led by the Otog Banner Brand Promotion Service Center and issued by the Otog Banner Agricultural and Animal Products Industry Association in Ordos.

The initiative aims to enhance consumer trust and satisfaction, elevate the standardization awareness and practices of farmers and herders, and guide them towards high-standard breeding practices.

Albas cashmere goats, recognized as one of China's top 20 best breeds, boast a fleece referred to as "soft gold" or "fiber gem."

Otog Banner currently houses approximately 1.8 million Albas cashmere goats, with individual average fleece production exceeding 650 grams.

It has an annual raw fleece output of 780 metric tons, accounting for around 10 percent of the region's total.

Meanwhile, a total of 900,000 goats are processed annually, yielding 18,000 tons of meat, making Otog Banner the largest breeding area for Albas cashmere goats in the region.
