Every year from May to June, more than 1 million mu (66,666.67 hectares) of Caragana tibetica in Otog Front Banner, Ordos in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region, bursts into vibrant bloom, transforming into a sea of blossoms.
Caragana tibetica, classified as a second-level protected plant in the autonomous region, can only thrive under stringent conditions, requiring as long as 70 to 100 years to cultivate a small patch.

With dense foliage, robust root systems, cold resistance, and drought tolerance, Caragana tibetica has the remarkable ability to intercept fine sand due to its dense clusters. Even when buried under sand, it can still develop adventitious roots, giving rise to new clusters and exhibiting strong sand-fixing capabilities.
The Caragana tibetica within the boundaries of Otog Front Banner is all wild, and it is spread widely across the Maogaitu Caragana Tibetica Nature Reserve in western Ordos, covering a total area of 1.25 million mu.
In recent years, to safeguard biodiversity within the desertification areas, Otog Front Banner has established a dedicated working group.
It has formulated the "Irregular Inspection System for the Maogaitu Caragana Tibetica Nature Reserve in Western Ordos" and the "Forest Ranger Management Measures" to prevent any engineering projects from entering the reserve, ensuring the safety of the ecological environment and preserving the wild flora and fauna resources.
