The Dongsheng East to Taigemiao Railway project received approval from the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Regional Development and Reform Commission on Dec 20.

Located in southeastern Ordos, the railway will start at Hailesihao South Station on the Batuta-Diandaigou Railway, pass through Ejin Horoo Banner and Kangbashi district, and terminate at Yueyashuwan Station in the Taigemiao mining area.

The main line spans 97.61 kilometers, with an additional 8.92 km of connecting lines linking to the Batuta-Diandaigou Railway and Baotou-Shenmu Railway.

The new railway will serve as a critical transportation route for coal exports from the Xinjie-Taigemiao and Chahasu coal mines. The project has received a total investment of approximately 11.35 billion yuan ($1.57 billion).

This railway is a key project under Inner Mongolia's 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25) for improving coal transport networks and is part of the backbone of Ordos' railway system. It plays a vital role in enhancing the regional railway network, optimizing transport structures, and ensuring national energy security.
