Ordos Net-Zero Industrial Park: Model for global net-zero industry

Updated: 2025-01-08 Print

The Ordos Zero-Carbon Industrial Park, jointly developed by Inner Mongolia Xinyuanjing Group and the Ordos Mengsu Economic Development Zone, is setting a benchmark for energy transition and green manufacturing.

Designed with a "one axis, two cores, and two zones" layout, the industrial park features a high-tech zero-carbon innovation axis supported by business and commercial hubs, a science and technology innovation core, an industrial zone, and a residential service area.

This integrated structure aims to create a model system for realizing net-zero concepts.

In July 2024, the industrial park partnered with the Ordos municipal government and the IEC International Standards Promotion Center to launch the "net-zero industrial park international standards compilation," paving the way for global adoption of its practices.

The industrial park announced its transition to the "2.0 era" at the 2024 Ordos Net-Zero Industry Conference.

Eight key innovations, including a full green energy supply, an intelligent carbon management platform, international net-zero industrial park standards, and a comprehensive "wind-solar-hydrogen-storage-vehicle" net-zero industry chain, will be achieved by 2025.

These efforts are projected to generate approximately 300 billion yuan ($41.40 billion) in green industrial output, create 100,000 jobs, and reduce annual carbon dioxide emissions by around 100 million metric tons.

The industrial park's first flagship project, the Envision Power Ordos Battery Gigafactory, produces high-energy-density, safe, and long-life power and storage batteries.

Utilizing its advanced technology and robust industrial capabilities, Inner Mongolia Xinyuanjing Group is driving the upgrade and expansion of the industrial chain while accelerating the transformation of the net-zero industrial system. This positions the Ordos Net-Zero Industrial Park as a global exemplar for net-zero industrial bases.

As the anchor enterprise of the industrial park, the project is now fully operational, producing 30,000 battery cells daily.

With strong policy support, the industrial park has already attracted 10 leading new energy enterprises, forming the foundation of a trillion-yuan-scale new energy industrial cluster. Increasingly, "net-zero products" from the industrial park are reaching global markets, advancing high-quality development in the private economy.
