The world's largest single-site olefin plant, known as the Baofeng olefin project, officially commenced operations in Uxin Banner, Ordos in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region, on Feb 14.
The plant had a total investment of 48.4 billion yuan ($6.68 billion) and was completed in just 18 months.
It boasts a daily production capacity of over 4,000 metric tons of olefin products, significantly enhancing China's import substitution capability, and utilizes advanced coal-to-olefin technology, reducing overall energy consumption by nearly 20 percent.
The plant employs fully domestically manufactured equipment, with 23 key components reaching world-class standards. Olefin products produced at the plant will be transported via intelligent packaging and logistics systems to markets in East and South China, helping to eliminate domestic supply gaps.
