Ordos launches smart logistics hub to boost multimodal transport

Hailesi Smart Logistics Distribution Hub in Ordos city, a landmark of strategic cooperation between central government-owned enterprises and local authorities, began operations on Dec 21.

The project is located in the Mengsu Economic Development Zone and received a total investment of 796 million yuan ($113.71 million).

The hub features a dedicated railway line with a main length of 3.74 kilometers and is designed to handle an annual cargo capacity of 10 million metric tons.

The line connects eastward to the Xinjie-Juungar Railway and westward to the Dongsheng-Wuhai Railway, while preserving access to the Zhundong Railway, effectively removing the bottleneck between Ordos’ three major rail corridors and enhancing regional rail connectivity.

Functionally, the hub serves as a key transport corridor for general cargo and coal chemical products from the Qipanjing Industrial Park, as well as mineral resources from western Ejin Horoo Banner.

By building a modern smart logistics platform, the project will explore new multimodal transport models for general cargo, reduce overall logistics costs, and help Ordos products and services reach national and global markets.
