A China-registered truck carrying photovoltaic equipment departed from the Ordos Comprehensive Bonded Zone in Ordos, North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region, on June 15 and began a direct journey to Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. The trip marked the zone's first TIR (International Road Transport) shipment to the country.

The milestone is expected to further deepen economic and trade cooperation between Ordos and Mongolia while supporting the city's efforts to strengthen its role as a gateway to northern markets.

To ensure the smooth operation of the inaugural shipment, Ordos Customs and the Ordos Comprehensive Bonded Zone drew on their experience from previous Russia-bound "TIR + bonded" transport services.

Authorities optimized support and supervision measures for the China-Mongolia route, streamlined key procedures including bonded warehousing, customs declaration, and cross-border transit, and completed vehicle registration and cargo inspections in advance to facilitate efficient customs clearance.

The new TIR route is expected to handle around 200 shipments this year, ensuring stable transport capacity for new energy equipment, consumer goods, and other cross-border cargo. The service will establish a more efficient overland logistics corridor connecting Ordos' growing new energy industry with the Mongolian market, while supporting deeper regional industrial and supply chain cooperation.
