In June 2007, in order to effectively alleviate the difficulties of insufficient educational resources in the downtown area, the CPC Bazhong Municipal Committee and the Municipal People's Government decided to integrate the high-quality educational resources of Bazhong Normal University, which has a glorious history of nearly 60 years, to establish Bazhong Senior High School.

In 2013, the school successfully created a municipal model school that covers an area of more than 150 mu (including the main school and the Beikan Campus).
