When Mylene Mathieu, a French social media influencer who lives in China, shared her experience and views about local cuisine, she made comparisons with France.

When she talked about the size of a dish in Shandong, for example, she said the vegetables of a single dish in Shandong can be divided into several dishes that can occupy a whole dining table in France.

Her comparisons impressed audiences, drawing waves of applause at the inaugural ceremony of the Shandong International Communication Center, which was held on Nov 26 in Jinan, the provincial capital.

The center — a platform to connect Shandong with the world — aims to shore up international communication about the province by integrating functions of content production, cultural exchanges, talent cultivation, research and innovation in the field of international communication.

We will cooperate with all sectors of society to build a comprehensive international communication network, innovate ways to tell stories about Shandong and enhance communication between China and foreign countries and regions, said Xi Yanchun, deputy head of the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China Shandong Committee and director of the Information Office of the provincial government.

Ahmed Nadeem, secretary-general of the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union, delivered a video speech in which he expressed his expectation of cooperation between the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union and Shandong International Communication Center.

Shandong Radio and Television Station(SDRT), where the center is based, will leverage its advantages and integrate the province's international publicity resources to build the center into a leading platform for international communication with extensive influence at home and abroad, said Lyu Peng, Party secretary and president of SDRT.

At the inaugural ceremony, SDRT signed strategic cooperation framework agreements with news media groups and international communication groups, including China Daily and China News Service, to boost international communication.
