The Party working committee and the administrative committee of the Qufu cultural development demonstration zone were both inaugurated in December 2015, and the zone was included in the national 13th Five-Year Plan (2016-20) and the Memory of China project on March 17, 2016.

Jining Economic and Technological Development Zone is located in the western part of Jining city and on the western side of the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal. Its core area includes two towns – Tuanli and Maji.
