Shandong announces provincial intangible cultural heritage list

The fourth list also includes more heritages which are unique to Shandong province, such as Gaoqiao Shouxiu, the art of hand embroidery which was born in the town of Gaoqiao, in Shandong province.

The new list also focuses on projects in poverty-stricken villages where the preserving of traditional handicrafts can facilitate employment and help raise living standards. Some practices highlighted on the list include Chinese paper-cutting, Spring Festival painting and knitting.
