A special cultural exchange activity highlighting Shandong's culture legacies was staged at this year's Weekend du Monde and Jade Dragon Culture Festival held on July 8 at the Parc Jean-Drapeau in Montreal, Canada.

Supported by the Consulate General of China in Montreal, the event was jointly organized by the Montreal Chinese Culture and Arts Foundation, the Shandong provincial department of culture, the Montreal Qipao Association and the Shandong Business Association and Shandong Association in Montreal.

Artists from the Shandong Art Troupe staged music and dances with Shandong features, wining applauses at intervals.

An intangible culture heritage exhibition was also held, with four artists from Shandong displaying the province's iconic cultural legacies of Weifang kites, paper cutting, Chinese New Year woodcut painting and shadow play.

The artists also showcased their expert skills during the event, attracting a large number of crowd eager to try their hands at the traditional Chinese crafts.

The Week-ends du monde event is a large family and people-gathering event celebrating modern-day Montreal and its rich heritage and diversity and it is held every year at Parc Jean-Drapeau. It provides the citizens of Montreal who come from all origins with an opportunity to celebrate and share their culture and traditions with the entire population, through music, dance, culinary discoveries and family activities.
