Consumption coupons boost cultural, tourism sectors

Shandong has issued coupons worth 129 million yuan ($18.59 million) to the public since the launch of the Shandong Culture and Tourism Consumption Season at the end of April.

The move has in turn generated 581 million yuan in direct consumption.

According to the Shandong Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, the coupons, which are sponsored by the government and enterprises, cover all aspects of culture and tourism sectors, including catering, retail, scenic spots, homestays, hotels, performances and transport.

As part of the event, city and county governments across the province have also launched promotional activities for local products and attractions to promote tourism market recovery and spur consumption.

Shandong will launch more activities to promote culture and tourism market recovery during the summer holiday season, local officials said.

Special poverty alleviation vouchers worth 1 million yuan will be allocated to 58 counties facing financial difficulties and events will also be held to help them boost sales of cultural and tourism products.
