Rizhao Grand Theater, located in Rizhao, a coastal city in East China's Shandong province, opened on Oct 17.

The theater spans an area of 25,000 square meters and includes a large theater with 1,092 seats and a small theater with 225 seats.

Government officials and representatives of cultural enterprises attended the opening ceremony.

Xiao Mei, director of the Rizhao municipal culture and tourism bureau, said in her speech that the Rizhao Grand Theater will improve the public cultural service system and largely meet the spiritual and cultural needs of visitors.

A cultural extravaganza of musicals, children's drama, dance drama, and Chinese opera and folk art will be staged to celebrate the opening of the theater.

The Rizhao Grand Theater will hold over 100 high-quality shows each year and will launch also a series of programs to benefit the people, such as art lectures and classes.
