The Boshan district of Zibo city – located in East China's Shandong province – was among the first batch of national culture export bases and it is expanding exports of its independently designed porcelain and color glazed products to the world. Boasting a long history of producing high-quality porcelain and color glazed products, Boshan is actively expanding its exports of local brands.

Zibo Aimei Coloured Glaze Manufacturing Co Ltd, for example – which used to process its products according to its buyers' samples – is now focusing on independent R&D and design.

As a result, it has designed over 200 new products this year and improved its added value greatly. The value of its exports in 2021 achieved year-on-year growth of 15 percent and current orders now stretch until the end of October.

To boost the development of its porcelain and colored glaze industry, the municipal government has issued a total of nearly 90 million yuan ($13.11 million) in support funds and built a cultural and creative industrial park to extend industry-university-research cooperation with dozens of universities.

Under the guidance of experts and academics, local enterprises have made new breakthroughs in key technologies.

The Boshan national culture export base has attracted 158 cultural export businesses and 103 arts studios and crafts masters, with colored glaze products accounting for more than 60 percent of the national market share. The export value of its ceramics and color glazed products reached 1.76 billion yuan in the first half of the year, up 25 percent year-on-year.
