The first "Sunland Cup" Urban Dragon Boat Race in Shanghai's Pudong New Area is set to kick off on June 8, marking the start of the Dragon Boat Festival holiday and China's eighth Cultural and Natural Heritage Day.

Held at Sunland Lake, the event aims to showcase Pudong's efforts to integrate the development of culture, sports, tourism, and commerce. It is poised to ignite public enthusiasm for traditional sports and culture, while also fostering the dynamic growth of Pudong's multi-industry integration.

The "Sunland Cup" promises to be a major draw, featuring three key highlights:

1. Mass Participation: Teams from 36 neighborhoods across Pudong and nine teams from international and local enterprises will compete, totaling 1,000 participants. Each team will control a 22-person dragon boat over a 300-meter course.

2. Debut Event: This will be the first high-level event at Sunland Lake since its trial opening in late 2023. The lake's unique shoreline and expansive surface will present challenges for competitors and enhance the viewing experience.

3. Cultural and Sports Integration: Alongside the races, visitors can enjoy a cultural market, sports brand showcases, and thrilling water performances like flyboarding. The Sunland Sports Center will also officially open on the same day.
