National innovation center witnesses significant advancements

National Innovation Center-Yangtze Delta, which was approved by the Ministry of Science and Technology and jointly established by Shanghai, and Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Anhui provinces, was set up on Jun 3, 2021 in Zhangjiang Science City.

The innovation center focuses on the transformation from science to technology and the combination of the national strategic deployment and the innovation needs of the Yangtze River Delta to promote breakthroughs in important fields.

The center, which is based on reform policies of Shanghai, Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Anhui, forms a new model for the integrated development of scientific and technological innovation, which is expected to promote the deep integration of the innovative science and technology industry, and boost the high-quality development of regional industries.

Its main task is to establish a market-oriented system integrating innovative resources, technical needs and research and development (R&D) carriers for industrial technology innovation and let enterprises play leading roles. It also combines the joint efforts of enterprises, universities and research institutes.

As of November 2022, the center has established 88 professional research institutes in Shanghai and Jiangsu covering information technology, materials, equipment and manufacturing, biological medicine, energy and environmental protection and joint innovation centers with 250 enterprises.
