On July 19, a significant milestone was achieved as Pudong New Area hosted its inaugural Green Low-Carbon Industry Development Conference. This event served as the launchpad for the Pudong New Area Green Low-Carbon Industry Development Alliance, a visionary initiative dedicated to advancing industrial energy conservation and promoting green development. By uniting key enterprises, research institutions, financial resources, and social organizations, the alliance aims to facilitate the flourishing of Pudong's green low-carbon industry, creating a sustainable and environmentally responsible future.

During the conference, Pudong New Area showcased its remarkable accomplishments following the successful implementation of China's 13th Five-Year Plan (2016-20). Notably, Pudong has established an impressive total of 39 green factories, eight green supply chains, 22 green products, and three green parks, solidifying its position as a trailblazer in Shanghai's sustainable development. Moreover, the area has achieved significant milestones with the establishment of four zero-carbon factories, two zero-carbon parks, and a cutting-edge zero-carbon data center, securing its place at the forefront of the city's efforts to lead the way in environmentally conscious initiatives.

The event also recognized several of Pudong's outstanding green low-carbon industrial parks, energy-saving low-carbon demonstration bases, zero-carbon demonstration units, and green manufacturing demonstration units.

At the conference, distinguished keynote speakers, including Chu Junhao, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Xiu Guangli, Party secretary of the School of Resources and Environmental Engineering at East China University of Science and Technology, delivered insightful speeches. Chu Junhao addressed the theme of "Achieving Dual Carbon Goals through Technological Innovation", offering valuable perspectives on leveraging technology to accomplish carbon-related objectives. On the other hand, Xiu Guangli's talk, titled "Progress and Challenges of Coordinated Pollution Reduction and Carbon Reduction Policies", shed light on the advancements made and the challenges faced in implementing coordinated policies for pollution reduction and carbon reduction.

The conference came to an inspiring conclusion with a thought-provoking session, during which academics and business leaders participated in engaging and in-depth discussions on the topic of "Cultivating Industry Ecology for Decarbonization".
