The Shanghai air-rail intermodal transport service center was established on Jan 18, with representatives of member units signing a cooperation agreement to unveil the center. The event marked the successful delivery of the first shipment of cargo to be transported via the air-rail intermodal transport system

The air-rail intermodal transport system is a form of multimodal transport primarily targeting high value-added and time-critical goods. It integrates the advantages of air and rail transport both internationally and in domestic hinterland areas, offering a more competitive and reliable intermodal mode of transport.

The establishment of the Shanghai air-rail intermodal transport service center aims to build a collaborative, innovative, green, and efficient multimodal transport system. Its goal is to achieve the integrated operation and management of air-rail intermodal transport services in order to better support the development of Shanghai as an international shipping center.

The Shanghai East Railway Station, which is currently under construction, has reserved space for air-rail logistics projects with the goal of "integrated development of station and city". This initiative will promote the development of air-rail intermodal transport in Shanghai and set a new benchmark for the international open gateway hub in the new era.

The Shanghai air-rail intermodal transport service center will be customer-oriented, integrating the advantageous resources of high-speed rail and aviation transportation. 

It will coordinate policy agreements, product development, market promotion, and service operations of air-rail intermodal transport business.
