Los Angeles has a reputation as the "innovation capital" due to the Hollywood film industry and the emerging Silicon Beach startup hub. Shanghai has raised the idea of creating a globally influential center for technological innovation, and this year has been focusing on Zhangjiang Science City.

Official representative from Zhangjiang Hi-tech Park Administrative Committee, P K Gaisie from General Electric's branch in Zhangjiang, and Anita Sengupta, project director of NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, gave speeches about the construction of Zhangjiang Science City, comparisons of the innovation environments between China and the United States and prospects for China-US cooperation. 

This forum strengthened the communication and consensus on the development of the scientific and innovative environment, setting up a platform for US enterprises and talents to cooperate with Shanghai and Zhangjiang.
