Shanxi athlete wins Olympic spot in men's Greco-Roman wrestling

Qian Haitao from North China's Shanxi province secured a spot on behalf of the Chinese wrestling team for the upcoming Paris Olympic Games by winning the men's Greco-Roman wrestling 87-kilogram semifinal at the Asian Wrestling Olympic Qualifiers, which was held in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, on April 21.

In the competitions, Qian first won his match against a Singaporean wrestler by 8-0, and then defeated a South Korean wrestler by 8-3. In the semifinal, he secured a 7-0 victory over a Jordanian athlete.

In the Asian Wrestling Olympic Qualifiers, the Chinese team secured four Olympic slots in women's freestyle wrestling (53 kg, 57 kg, and 76 kg) categories as well as men's Greco-Roman wrestling (87 kg) categories. 

According to the qualification allocation plan for the wrestling events at the upcoming Paris Olympic Games, the World Qualification Tournament that will be held in May this year will determine the final 54 slots.
