Officials from Shanxi Provincial Government briefed the media on the progress of intellectual property work in North China's Shanxi province at a press conference on April 24.

The officials were from the provincial court, the provincial procuratorate, the public security department, the provincial administration for market regulation, and Taiyuan Customs.

According to their reports, in 2023, Shanxi saw an improvement in both the quantity and quality of intellectual property creation. By the end of the year, the province had amassed 29,000 valid invention patents, marking a 24.9-percent year-on-year growth. Additionally, the quantity of valid registered trademarks reached 381,000, reflecting an 11.2-percent year-on-year increase.

Furthermore, 11 key patent guidance projects were initiated last year, focusing on the province's key industrial chains and characteristic professional towns. The province also implemented 135 provincial-level patent transformation projects.

This year, the Shanxi Provincial Administration for Market Regulation will work to further strengthen the development of the intellectual property sector. It will advance patent transformation and utilization, revitalize existing patent resources within the province's universities and research institutions, and promote the precise matchmaking of high-value patents with enterprises, so as to drive the development of new quality productive forces.

At the same time, the courts in the province will play a leading role in the judicial protection of intellectual property rights, such as providing high-quality judicial services and guarantees.

Additionally, the province's public security units will further strengthen collaboration with intellectual property and market supervision departments, so as to enhance the coordinated governance and protection of intellectual property rights.
