The Department of Ecology and Environment of Shanxi Province has systematically coordinated and advanced biodiversity conservation efforts in recent years, providing solid support for the construction of a beautiful Shanxi.

With increased efforts in ecological protection and the continuous improvement of the local environment, the variety and population of wildlife in various protected areas have seen significant growth. Biodiversity is flourishing, and public awareness of wildlife and environmental protection is on the rise, marking a new milestone in Shanxi's biodiversity conservation work.

Heshun county's successful protection of the North China leopard's critical habitat has been recognized as an exemplary biodiversity case by the Ministry of Ecology and Environment. The populations of several nationally protected species, such as the golden pheasant and the black stork, are steadily increasing.

The North China leopard, a rare and endangered species unique to China, is a national first-class protected animal. Shanxi boasts the largest wild population of the species in the country, with their distribution area continuously expanding in recent years. This has made them a symbol of Shanxi's thriving ecological environment.
