Fudan University in Shanghai has recently been permitted by the Ministry of Education to build a national integrated circuit (IC) innovative platform that integrates technical training and academic education.

The project, with a total construction expenditure of 470 million yuan ($67.88 million), is scheduled to be completed by 2021. It will be located in Shanghai's Zhangjiang Science City, an important hub for high-tech companies from both China and abroad.

The platform will further develop the common technologies of ICs, covering chip design, EDA tools, device processing and chip packaging, and focus on promoting the integrated development of the IC industry in the Yangtze River Delta region.

Additionally, the platform will attach great importance to cultivating talented personnel in the IC industry. It will be able to provide practical training to 2,000 personnel per year after its completion.

According to incomplete statistics, about 239 chip design enterprises have gathered in Zhangjiang, developing more than 100 domestic leading products.
