Updated: 2019-12-31

Shanghai celebrated the fifth anniversary of the founding of the Shanghai FTZ Fund on Dec 28.

The Shanghai FTZ Fund is China's first FTZ-themed investment fund. Over the past five years, the fund has played an important role in supporting the growth of emerging industries and institutional innovation, as well as in helping build Shanghai into a global scientific innovation center.

Specialized departments for the Shanghai FTZ Fund have been established in the Lin-gang Special Area and Zhangjiang Science City to help grow local high-tech companies.

The fund is meant to provide support for companies involved in biotechnology, integrated circuits, artificial intelligence, and logistics supply chains.

Six companies that received financial help from the fund have now gone public, and two of the first 25 companies to be listed on the science and technology innovation board of the Shanghai Stock Exchange were beneficiaries of the fund.

The aforementioned companies have demonstrated stronger performance after receiving investment from the fund.

Over the past few years, the fund has been recognized numerous times by the government and other institutions.

It has been honored as one of China's best private equity investment organizations by China Venture Investment Consulting Ltd, won the Golden Bull award granted by the China Securities Journal, and was named the "best investment organization" by the Shanghai Equity Investment Association, in addition to other honors.
