Shanghai Zhaoxin Semiconductor Co has launched a new project in Zhangjiang Science City in an effort to invigorate the city's integrated circuit (IC) industry.

In recent years, Zhangjiang Science City has been striving to build a world-class IC industry cluster. According to statistics, the total sales revenue of IC companies in the city was 81.76 billion yuan ($12.66 billion) in the first three quarters of last year, an increase of 39.9 percent over the previous year. That represents a 58 percent increase in revenue reported by Shanghai's entire IC industry.

Shanghai Zhaoxin Semiconductor Co, a State-owned company established in 2013, has become a leading domestic IC design house, with research and development (R&D) centers in Beijing, Wuhan, Shenzhen, and Xi'an.

The company boasts strong independent R&D and innovation capabilities, and the new project launched in the Zhangjiang Science City will create new growth engines for Zhangjiang's innovative development.

Zhaoxin will take full advantage of its strengths and implement an innovation-driven strategy to help Zhangjiang cultivate a complete ecosystem for the IC industry and boost the city's strategic scientific and technological strength.
