Nation encourages Pudong to explore pilot comprehensive reforms

Updated: 2021-03-10

The country will encourage Pudong to pilot a comprehensive reform on the market-based allocation of production factors, which will help the area build itself into a pioneering zone for socialist modernization, Hang Yingwei, director of the Pudong New Area, said during the two sessions this year.

Hang said that the proposal is expected to promote higher-level reform and opening-up in the country.

He added that Pudong will accelerate the interconnected development of the China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone and special customs supervision areas, and make breakthroughs in some key areas such as bonded maintenance, bonded research and development, and bonded production.

Pudong will also promote innovation-driven development by pursuing institutional innovation and self-dependent innovation. Hang added that Pudong has made such achievements in areas including the drug marketing authorization holder mechanism and the intellectual property protection system. In the future, the area will make more breakthroughs in innovative development.

Efforts will also be made to speed up the interconnected development of the Lujiazui Financial District and Zhangjiang Science City to better support the development of innovative industries.
