Guangyuan's intangible cultural heritage market opened at Nanhe Wetland Park on Feb 7, as a key part of the city's Chinese New Year cultural events.

Local residents enjoyed immersive experiences through traditional performances and traditional snacks, embracing the strong festive atmosphere of the Chinese New Year.

The opening ceremony kicked off with a martial arts show by school students, vividly showcasing the balance of strength and grace in traditional martial arts.

It was followed by an exciting Wangcang lion dance on high platforms. The lions leaped nimbly to the drumbeats, earning nonstop cheers from the audience.

In the temporary market, a fashion show featuring paper-cut costumes with "blessing" and "spring" patterns stunned visitors. Close-up Sichuan face-changing performances also drew large crowds, earning endless cheers and applause.

Surrounding the shows, various intangible cultural heritage stalls were on display, showcasing delicate embroidery, Guangyuan kiln crafts, special drinks and sugar paintings.

The silky Qingchuan gray corn paste, a local intangible cultural heritage delicacy, was a highlight – its sixth-generation inheritor has been selling the snack for 30 years. Shoppers could also buy Chinese New Year staples on site, including handmade noodles, preserved eggs, cured meat and hand-pressed oil.

A 62-year-old local praised the fantastic shows and tasty traditional food, calling the market a pleasant surprise. The market runs until March 3, open daily from 2 pm to 7:30 pm, inviting people to experience Guangyuan's unique cultural heritage.
