With the May Day holiday just around the corner, Baodi district in Tianjin will kick off the second Chaobai River Tourism Festival along with a series of cultural events to delight tourists.

Connecting Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei province, the Chaobai river stands out as one of Baodi's most vital ecological and cultural tourism resources.

During this year’s holiday, Baodi will hold fashionable cosplay parade activities; introduce water sports such as sailing, and kayaking to promote sightseeing and fun activities on Chaobai River; and create the largest outdoor waterfront camping base along the river, organizing events such as crab catching, peach blossom festival, and rice planting to highlight ecological advantages, accoding to Jia Xuena, head of publicity department of the district.

Baodi also has a rich cultural heritage, with landmarks such as the Liao and Jin dynasties (916-1234) stone tablets, temples and architecture.

It not only encompasses nearly 80 intangible cultural heritage items, but also carries the legacy of Jingdong Drum, Peking Opera, and Cross-talk, highlighting its unique cultural advantage.

With its advantageous geographical location, Baodi is an important gathering place and a preferred venue for large-scale events in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region and even across the country. This year, Baodi will hold a sports tourism carnival and host more than 60 large-scale events.
