The World Intelligence Expo, scheduled from June 20 to 23 in Tianjin, will highlight its commitment to sustainability with Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs).

A Renewable Energy Certificate is an electronic certificate issued by the state with a unique code identification, serving as the sole proof of the environmental value of green power. One REC unit corresponds to 1,000 kilowatt-hours of renewable electricity.

The National Convention and Exhibition Center (Tianjin) has obtained 500 RECs, equivalent to 500,000 kWh of green power, ensuring that the World Intelligence Expo is powered entirely by renewable energy.

Yu Liya, of the Tianjin Green Power and Renewable Energy Certificate Service Center and who is responsible for the REC service work, said: "According to forecasts, total power consumption of the World Intelligent Industry Expo is about 500,000 kilowatt-hours, which equals a total of 500 RECs, the equivalent of reducing carbon dioxide emissions of 413 tons."

It is worth noting that the green power is also produced in Tianjin. The RECs from Huadian Tianjin Haijing "salt and light complementary" power station.

Thanks to the "1001" project implemented by Tianjin Power Grid, the realization of the 500 KV double network operation opened up new era for clean energy in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region.

Data show that from 2021 to 2023, Tianjin's annual green power trading grew to 1.83 billion kWh from 0.12 billion kWh, and it is expected to exceed 6 billion kWh in 2024. The annual trading power increased about 500 times compare with four years ago.

The Tianjin Green Power and Renewable Energy Certificate Service Center was established to integrate the grid, power generation, users and other data and resources, and help energy green transformation.
