The 2024 World Intelligence Expo, which will last from Thursday to Sunday, is expected to present cutting-edge AI technology in Tianjin.

The event, co-hosted by Tianjin and Chongqing, will span 100,000 square meters at the National Convention & Exhibition Center (Tianjin) and feature 10 themed exhibition areas encompassing AI, intelligent connected vehicles and robotics.

Top enterprises, universities and renowned research institutions are expected to attend the event to showcase their latest advancements and compete and interact in robotics, intelligent driving challenges and drone flying.

As China accelerates its transition towards a digital economy, Tianjin and Chongqing have stepped up efforts to boost their AI industries in recent years.

Tianjin remains at the forefront, with the revenue of its AI industry exceeding 300 billion yuan ($41.4 billion) in 2023, while Chongqing's industries related to intelligent connected vehicles and new energy vehicles are rapidly forming trillion-yuan clusters, according to local authorities.

The Lenovo Innovation Industrial Park in Tianjin has utilized AI to optimize its production layout and assemble a laptop in just nine seconds.

Harnessing the power of AI, Tianjin Port, equipped with 5G, big data and digital twin technologies, has gained "smart wings," boosting overall efficiency by over 40 percent and becoming the world's first "smart zero-carbon" port.

At Tianjin Golden Bridge Welding Materials Group, the digitalized workshop has reduced the workforce by over 70 percent, leading to a fourfold increase in production efficiency.

To fortify this strategic lever, Tianjin has mobilized its resources to prioritize the development of the information technology industry, planning to establish the "China Information Technology Valley" as the core of the next-generation information technology industry, forming a primary industrial chain.

Tianjin ranks among the top in chip performance nationwide, with six leading domestic CPU chip brands.
