The one-month event will feature eight competitions, exhibitions and comprehensive cycling tour activities in Jinghai.
At the opening ceremony, nearly 300 candidates from Beijing, Tianjin, Hebei, Shandong, Inner Mongolia, and other regions participated in the 13th Tuanbo Lake Road Cycling Competition, showcasing the vibrant and thriving atmosphere of "China's capital of bicycles and electric bikes".
"Jinghai not only has a highly competitive advantage in the industry cluster but has also formed a unique bicycle culture. Through this competition, we have felt the unique charm of this place," said participants in the competition.
Most of the vehicles and equipment used by the participants were produced in Jinghai. This year, Jinghai's bicycle industry made it to the list of characteristic industry clusters for small and medium-sized enterprises ranking top, according to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.
In less than 10 years, Jinghai has completed an innovative transformation from "an empty land" to the "capital of bicycles and electric bikes", with over 40 key bicycle enterprises gathered here. Jinghai produces over 8 million bicycles (electric bicycles) annually, with one out of every seven electric bicycles nationwide being produced in this region.
"The sport of cycling is very popular, and there are excellent cycling conditions in Jinghai," said Liu Dongmei, director of the Jinghai District Bureau of Sports.
Jinghai will strive to develop cycling competitions into a signature event, aiming to attract more biking enthusiasts to experience the district's beauty.
