A delegation of over 60 representatives from the Ninth Conference for Friendship of Overseas Chinese Associations was visibly impressed - and some delegates expressed an interest to start up a start fresh business - when they visited Xiamen, in East China's Fujian province, on June 1.

The delegation went first to Xiamen cross-border e-commerce industrial park, located in the Xiamen Area of China (Fujian) Pilot Free Trade Zone, or XMFTZ.

"The park provides all-round services and has comprehensive support policies," said Zhu Xi, head of the Peaceful Reunification of China Association of New Zealand.

"I believe that for the enterprises in New Zealand, it is a perfect place to settle," Zhu added.

The Xiamen Cross-Straits Financial Center also wowed the delegates. You Jianming, an overseas Chinese from Myanmar, expressed his intention to start up a business in the area.

"The infrastructure construction, transportation, culture and climate in Xiamen impressed me," You said. "It has laid a solid foundation for investment and starting business."

By the end of May this year, 1,185 financial institutions and projects - including CICC Capital, Toutiao and Luckin Coffee - had settled in the financial center, with a total registered capital of 103.04 billion yuan ($14.9 billion).

"The business environment in Xiamen is very attractive," said Chen Jun, honorary president of the Chinese American Federation.

He said that Xiamen not only pursued GDP growth, but also attached great importance to high-tech and high-quality development as well as ecological and environmental protection.

The Ninth Conference for Friendship of Overseas Chinese Associations opened in Beijing on May 29, with more than 450 leading members of overseas Chinese associations from more than 90 countries and regions attending.
