Taiwan publishers invited to attend cross-Strait book fair

Publishers in Taiwan are invited to attend the annual book fair across the Taiwan Strait set for Sept 20-22 this year in Xiamen, Fujian Province, according to fair organizers at a promotional event here June 18.

Up to 120 exhibition booths will be set up for Taiwan publishers at the fair, which is in its 15th edition since 2005 and is expected to attract up to 220 Taiwan publishers.

This year's book fair will include exhibition areas for digital publishing, animation, digital printing and audiobooks for the first time and include exchanges of online reading platforms from both sides of the Taiwan Strait, said Chen Zhangzhi, with the fair's organizing committee.

Cross-Strait integrated development of publishing sectors will be high on the agenda of the event, with forums and exchanges to be held.

The past 14 editions of the fair, which were held alternately in Xiamen and Taiwan, saw the exhibition of a total of around 9 million books and generated deals worth around 460 million yuan (about $66.7 million).
