Xiamen in East China's Fujian province is striving to build a new logistics channel for Taiwan products via the China-Europe railway, according to local media.

A freight container from Taichung, a city in Taiwan, was the first delivery made through the logistics channel. On June 27, it arrived in Xiamen by sea and will be transferred to Moscow by the China-Europe railway on June 30.

According to a person in charge, it only takes about 20 days to deliver freight from Taiwan to Moscow through the newly-launched logistics channel, shaving 15 days off compared to the previous method.

Consumer goods are expected to be put on store shelves as soon as they arrive in Moscow in time for shopping season, facilitating settlement process and capital turnover.

The China-Europe railway will join with the maritime transportation route along the ancient Silk Road to expand logistics channels, along which Xiamen serves as a transfer stop.
