The award ceremony for 13 "Kings of Spring Tea" from across the Taiwan Straits was held in Xiamen, Fujian province on July 28.

A total of 13 tea samples, one from Taiwan and 12 from the Chinese mainland, were the final winners of the competition. Launched in March, the event received over 3,000 tea samples, including oolong, black, green, white, dark green and yellow tea.

The winners see tea as playing a pivotal role in traditional Chinese culture and said tea planters from both sides of the Straits have much to share concerning tea-making techniques and tea plantation management.

The competition was organized by tea business insiders and research institutes from the Chinese mainland and Taiwan.
